MY RAMBO MOVIE REVIEW AND COMMENTS FROM OUTRAGED FANS. PT.1

Outrage Outrage
$16.96

Derived from the classic 1951 Japanese film Rashomon, director Martin Ritt's The Outrage attempts to modernize the original story of rape and murder, transporting from medieval Japan to the American Southwest of the 1870's. The story is told within the framework of three men waiting at a railway station. A con-man (Edward G. Robinson) listens to the account of a trial held recently in the town as told by a prospector (Howard Da Silva) and a preacher (William Shatner) suffering from a crisis of faith in humanity. Three witnesses at the trial of a Mexican outlaw give conflicting testimony. Each version is shown in flashback. The outlaw, Juan Carrasco (Paul Newman), confesses that he bound the husband (Laurence Harvey), raped the wife, and killed the husband in a duel of honor. The wife (Claire Bloom) claims that the outlaw raped her, and then she stabbed her husband when he contemptuously blamed her for inviting the assault. The third witness, an old Indian (Paul Fix), declares that he found the dying husband who stated that he stabbed himself because he couldn't live with the humiliation. As the story continues to unfold, the validity of each of the stories is questioned before the truth is finally revealed. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

Kirby Dick, the Academy Award-nominated director of This Film Is Not Yet Rated, exposes the hypocrisy of closeted politicians who actively campaign against the very community they secretly belong to. Some of the most influential policy-makers in the United States are gay, but you wouldn't know it to look at their voting records -- despite being members of the LGBT community, many closeted politicians actually vote against the proposals designed to give that community equal rights. In speaking with such members of the gay community as U.S. representatives Tammy Baldwin and Barney Frank, as well as radio personality Michelangelo Signorile, activist Larry Kramer, and former N.J. governor Jim McGreevey, Dick is able to explore the complexities of leading a double lifestyle, as well as highlight the double standards of a media that has become obsessed with covering the sex lives of gay public figures. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide In what is clearly the most controversial aspect of the film, Dick makes a case for the homosexuality of several politicians who continue to deny it (most notably, former Idaho senator Larry Craig and current Florida governor Charlie Crist). But OUTRAGE is by no means a finger-wagging witch-hunt--Dick’s intention is not to ruin the life of anyone. Like McGreevey, who lived through his own personal years of torment, he believes that everyone would be better off if they acknowledged who they are, in public and in private.

Filmmakers George and Beth Gage ponder why the U.S. government is spending millions on prosecuting a pair of elderly Western Shoshone sisters for the perceived crime of allowing a few hundred horses to graze on the open range outside their private ranch. In 1974, the U.S. government sued the Dans for trespassing in a case that eventually went to the Supreme Court and, ultimately, the United Nations. The ranch in question is part of the 60 million acres officially recognized as Western Shoshone territory by the U.S. So why does the government seem so intent on pressing charges against these two grandmotherly ranchers? As the sisters, and they'll likely tell you that it's due to the fact that their humble ranch sits atop the second largest gold producing area on the planet. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
